Hall of Fame Thoroughbred Xtra Heat


A successful real estate entrepreneur, Spencer Plummer is the founder of Zeus Investments, LLC, a real estate investment, development, and property management company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also a second-generation horseman and the owner and manager of Arc of Flight, LLC, a horse breeding and management firm. The horses Spence Plummer has owned include thoroughbred mare Xtra Heat.

Xtra Heat is one of a small number of female sprint horses set to be inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame. The daughter of Dixieland Heat, she was known for her consistency, an enormous desire to win, and always giving her best. In a career stretching from 2000 to 2003, she won 26 times out of 35 starts, had five second-place finishes, and two third-place finishes.

Her total earnings are over $2.3 million, although she only won a single Grade I stakes. As of 2020, Xtra Heat has given birth to 12 foals of racing age. An impressive 11 of these have started in races, and seven have been winners. Her most notable offspring include Southwestern Heat, the 2007 Sonny Hine Stakes at Laurel winner, and Elusive Heat, who won the 2009 restricted Geyser Springs Stakes at Saratoga.
